Great Festival, but the seats... Late thanks for a great festival, it was hard to get back to daily life - had to listen to some CD´s at work too to keep the spirits up! Only thing that bothered me and some friends is about the seats and the main concerts. Unsufficient information about where to sit, so we had to move in the middle of a concert! If it´s necessary to keep us apart from the rest of the audience then be sure to give us the right information. But why not give the participants of the festival numbered seats from the beginning - paying for the whole festival shouldn´t actually make us less important than the ones who by tickets for a single concert!? Apart from this it was sooooooo great to listen to so much vocal music. Sometimes I thought I couldn´t cope anymore, but then the next thing was even greater, for instance COSMOS and Apes & Babes... Still smiling Dear friends! Now the first week after this phantastic festival is over and every day I m having you all in mind, all you wonderful musicians and adorable people. I m still overwhelmed and I m smiling smiling smiling the whole day.... :-) And I m looking forward to see you all again - whereever it will be - Berlin, Mainz, Trondheim.... and Aarhus! So - thanks with all my heart for all: workshops, concerts, discussions, for beeing there, for the good vibrations, for lots of experiences and for your perfect organization!!! The only thing was the food - but there was told about enough here. And in my opinion it s difficult to have professional (or nearly professional) and non-professional singers/choirs in the same competition. Festival was so great that i almost can forgive that green stuff in the food.. :)) Hello!!This was my second experience with this kind of festival. I also went to Vasteras last year and found everything just perfect. In this festival, i repeated and liked a lot the workshops, namely the workshop with Morten and the Real Group - they are genial!! I must say that i liked a lot more this concert of Real Group than their concert in Sweden (no strange mix with Rajaton this year :)), and Cosmos they were astonishing again, it s good to review something that good and fun! About the food , i have two words: horrible and horrible!! (sorry!) - I really got very angry when, on the last day, we discovered and had lunch at a Chinese buffet restaurant which was, not only, very good, but also a lot cheaper than what I payed for eating at the festival. GREAT EXPERIENCE! hello, everyone involved in the organization of AAVF! It was my first experience in this festival and I really enjoyed having had the chance to do the All-ears workshop with the 2 musicians of Real Group. I learned a lot and it was thrilling to hear the result . I also loved the evening concerts, namely the Real Group and Cosmos - they are sublime! The closing concert with Touché - just great! Actually, I think the food was way below the general quality of the festival. I Completely subscribe those people who already said that had they known, they would have chosen to eat somewhere else! We were lucky that it didn t rain while we were waiting outside, also! Anyway, it was a great experience. Thank you! P.S. Is there a certificate of attendance? I would like to have one, of possible! Tak er kun et fattigt ord!:-) thank you so much to everyone who organized the weekend. It surpassed all my expectations! I came home completely exhilirated and inspired! I think the format for the competitions was brilliant, and I really enjoyed all the performances... especially The Real Group and (of course) the unbelievable Cosmos.... they were out of this world. I thought the night stage stuff was less than perfect. Ridehuset was not a great venue for it, and I think maybe it was just too late.... acapella-singing after midnight is hard work... Or maybe I m just a pussy! Either way, I loved the weekend, I loved the people and I loved the vibe! Do we really have to wait 3 years???? Fantastic festical except for food This was my first AAVF festival and I was in general very positively surprised. Lots of fantastis koncerts (especially abes and babes, real group and cosmos) and lots of fantastic peple too. A few recommendations for next time: Food: I totally agree with Anitas comment. The organisation and quality of food was horible. The food was boring and in no way worth the 450 dkr. (more like 100 dkr. or so). Furthermore, the atmosphere in Ridehuset was not very cosy at all. I would in no way have chosen the food option had I known about these things. Night stage: The festival never really succeeded in having a party going on at night stage. First of all Ridehuset is not on its own a very nice place for parties. You have to work on the arrangement and so in order to make the right atmosphere. Haven t stopped smiling yet! The whole experience still has me quite giddy with joy. If the choices were between having everything exactly the way they were , or not at all - by all means do a copy/paste - and I ll be there. Workshops, competitions and concerts all A okay. Morning singing, masterclass, night stage were likewise super. There were so many things going on that you went from one delightful experience to the next. But of course there is always room for improvement. Information about logistics could be better: I found the schedule on the website pretty confusing, but at the same time missed information there. Still: kudos to all the young people, who guided us to the right place. Meals were a major problem. The solution to have us wait outside was cool, but not in the sense of the word that you would want. In spite of having paid for meals we gave up, and had the last two meals at restaurants. However, it didn t ruin the overall impression that just leaves me to say a BIG thank you to the organizers and everyone involved! Have to mention COSMOS who completely knocked my socks off! Night stage etc Time for a few suggestions. Although the poor sound technician tried his best the sound at the night stage was in many cases suboptimal. Maybe one could consider setting the stage diagonally in the far right corner from where it was ( something like the Foyer setting. It would also have been nice to have had name tags- the name of the group or choir would do. It was a great idea to include the evening concerts in the Festival fee but you spared nothing in bringing us the creme de la creme and I am sure that the participants would all sgree that we should have paid at least half price for the tickets. Food.... organization and quality.... First: thank you for a fantastic, joyful weekend - I m lookong very much foreward till next AAVF! BUT..... I hope for a few changes: There were major problems in the way lunch and dinner was organized - even after the changes after the first catastrofic lunch: 2 tables for so many people simply isn t enough... More importantly: 450,- d.kr. was much too expensive, especially considering the poor quality of the food. Due to the (self) service problems the food was cold - but even if the food had been warm, it would never have been worth the 450 that I paied - There are lots of sandwich bars and cheap restaurants in the neighbourhood, where I would rather have had my meals for the same price - sorry.... An amazing weekend Thank you so much for a fantastic festival! I loved both the workshops and the concerts. COSMOS was the best surprise ever! Please invite them again. It was nice to be able to follow the competitions and at the same time have the possibility of attending a workshop instead. But it was a pitty not to have more time in the morning workshops. I would prefer if the morning singing stopped in time, so we could begin the workshops in time - that would at least give us a few minutes more ;-) Thanks again for 4 wonderful days! Thank You for the Music! As a true a capella and Vocal festival Junkie I can say I m high and slightly over-dosed from the AAVF euphoric experience!My fear that a competitive atmosphere would hinder contact to other musicians dissolved into thin air on the very first day. Thank you to all the organisers, the Jury , the coaches and performing artists for ensuring the success of this festival. Things will never be the same again... My head is still brimming with all the things we were allowed to share at this wonderful vocal summit. It was a marvellous weekend of give and take, emit and receive. Thank you for the incredible variety of performing artists you have provided us with. Thank you for adding fresh new colours to the palette of our voices. Thank you for all the songs we learned, from the fjord valleys of Sweden to the Karoo of South Africa (I can still hear the Shosholoza steaming away in my mind). AAVF 2009 Fantastisk arrangement! Det eneste, der manglede, efter min mening, var Basix. Jeg mener, de burde være selvskrevne til sådan et arrangement, da de er forgangere for vokalmusikken i Danmark og endda startede i Århus. De kunne fx. have erstattet Amanda, som jeg ikke mente var på niveau med de andre optrædende grupper i Store Sal. Feedback Now, I ve used the last few days to evaluate inside my head and wanted to give you some constructive feedback. Honestly I don t have a lot of negative things to say...it was very well organized and with great content. A few things worth mentioning: - Thank you for having the competitions in the afternoon without conflicting with a lot of workshops. I really enjoyed the competition concerts! - Your variety in the main concerts during the nights is great, keep that up. - The night stage worked okay, but maybe it should be stated to the groups that singing their main repetoire of quiet balads is probably not very appropriate - considering the mood of people at that point in time :) All in all: What a great festival! I really sincerely hope for you guys, that you are able to make this festival meet economic break even, that makes it possible for you to arrange a new festival in a few years. What a soul lifting come-together vocal enthusiast event (in other words: THAAAAAAANKS!) AAVF 2009 to me was the vocal experience of a lifetime - it was vocal heaven. Tak for en dejlig week-end. Tak for en skøn oplevelse. Som amatør-korsanger var der rigtig meget at hente i coaching, hvor mange små detaljer pludselig får betydning for det samlede billede, både visuelt og auditivt. Hvad prisen inkluderer Hej Helle! Vores gæstebog har været nede i ret lang tid, men er nu kørende igen. Festivalgebyret på kr. 995 dækker ganske enkelt ALLE koncerter, workshops og coachings. Sidstnævnte kan enkeltpersoner dog kun overvære, idet det drejer sig om coaching af kor og vokalgrupper. Det eneste, der evt. kommer udover gebyret, er bespisning, som du kan vælge til.
